We did it! You did it! Our 15th annual SFZF is done!

ok first off:
THANK YOU! WE LOVE YOU!

your dedicated & extremely handsome SFZF2016 organizing team

Our 15th annual SF Zine Fest was one of our busiest of all time, with over 220 exhibitors and about 3500 attendees (and that's not counting the six different pre-fest events). This was also the first SFZF where we made ASL interpretation available at every single panel and reading throughout the week (thank you Juan Ramirez!), AND the first one where we were able to run a free wheelchair-accessible shuttle all day between the County Fair Building and Civic Center BART. And this was also the first-ever SFZF to have two queer women of color as our guests of honor — long, long overdue on our part, considering who's been doing the most vital work in the Bay Area arts community.

Thanks to ALL OF YOU -- exhibitors, attendees, sponsors, donors, volunteers, organizers, administrative officials, pets -- for making this festival a reality once again.

Oh! Speaking of our guests of honor:

Ajuan Mance, Liz Mayorga, MariNaomi

This year, the State of California honored our fifteen years of work in the Bay Area arts community. San Francisco Zine Fest and our 2016 guests of honor, Ajuan Mance and MariNaomi, were presented with certificates from the California Legislative Assembly in a small ceremony held during the festival SFZF2012-2015 director Liz Mayorga was on hand to accept on out behalf, in representation of all festival organizers past an present.

We wouldn't have been around long enough to gain a fan in state government without all of you. <3

Also, special thanks to our sponsors:

The Intersection for the Arts, our 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor!

Patreon, for hosting our first fundraiser reading as an organization with nonprofit status!

issuu, for funding our wheelchair-accessible BART shuttle, a first for SFZF2016!

San Francisco Public Library! Artist & Craftsman Supply! Flax Art & Design! The Cartoon Art Museum! The Asian Art Museum! Mission Comics & Art! 1984 Printing! Mamacitas Cafe! RADAR Productions! Pegasus Books! Lagunitas! People's Choice Printing! Alley Cat Books! And the great folks at the San Francisco Parks & Rec department!

OK that's it for now. Got some news for us to share? Let us know! The zine scene goes year round!

all our best and let's hang out again soon,
the SFZF2016 team
