Punk Passage @ SF Public Library, 9/12 - 12/6
The San Francisco Public Library has what looks to be a great exhibition showcasing seminal punk photographer Ruby Ray's work in the classic zine Search and Destroy. In addition to over 40 b&w photos documenting the Bay Area punk scene of 1977-1981, there will be a collection of original zines, show flyers, and other ephemera of the era on display. The Library also has a panoply of satellite events, from Q+A with Ruby Ray on Tuesday, 9/15 at the Main Library to tons of film screenings (Louder, Faster, Shorter; Deaf Punk and Insect Lounge Sally RemiX 197- 10/7, 6pm; SF Punk - 11/4, 6pm), panels on Queer Punk, and much more. It's really nice that this consequential era in Bay Area's cultural landscape is getting its due in a venue such as the SFPL, and everyone should really try and check it out! Go here for more info.
