The SF Public Press is one of our favorite developments in the ongoing "fate of journalism" saga: A local website taht also produces a lovely, ink and paper newspaper, Sf Public Press is created by volunteers yet maintains excellent quality standards (just this last Tuesday they won a Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism Award!), with funding from some interesting and out of the box sources. Some of the SF Public Press folks participated in our rockin' DIY Journalism panel last year, and all together we think this organization has a lot to teach us about the future of journalism, print, and DIY projects in general.
Tonight (Thursday) SF Public Press is celebrating the release of their second issue at the Mechanics' Institute. Join them for drinks and appetizers, pick up a free copy of the fall 2010 edition of the newspaper, and meet the incredible volunteer team that pulled it all together! Tickets are $20 for non-members, and it is FREE for members (basic memberships start at $35), this is a great chance to support the paper.
